Duchess Kate honors Irish Guards by presenting shamrocks on St. Patrick’s Day

Now that’s the true fashion of St. Patrick’s Day!

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge looked every inch dipped in the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day. For her royal visit to Irish Guards on Saturday, she opted for an emerald green Emilia Wickstead ensemble. The designer coat dress was a perfect pick for her first solo military appearance.

The Duchess kept her looks simple yet sophisticated and elite. She accessorized her coat dress cinched at the waist with a designer brown cap, matching pumps and a bloom of shamrocks on to her lapel. But the most charming and brilliant complement was her golden shamrock brooch formerly belonged to late Queen Mother.

Her minimal jewelry style displayed classic gemstone and diamond earrings and her sapphire engagement ring.

The princess followed the tradition of handing out sprigs of shamrocks to members of the 1^st Battalion Irish Guards including their regimental mascot, an Irish wolfhound.

The tradition has its roots in early 1900s and the duties were previously carried out by Queen Mother before her death in 2002. Later Princess Anne was carrying the tradition and now it will be performed by Princess Catherine.

After the ceremony Kate also sipped Irish sherry in a mess hall and she certainly did it in a royal style!
