Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress and Tiara

The world witnessed the Wedding of the Century yesterday. And, the most talked about subject was the Wedding Dress of Kate Middleton or shall we call Her Royal Highness Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.

She looked absolutely stunning! Her wedding dress was something every girl would dream of! As many did speculate, her beautiful dress was designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen’s. The long and sheer veil, the hand embroidered sleeves, and about 6 feet long train – everything about the dress showcased a mix of tradition and modernity.

And, talking about her wedding dress, how can we not talk about the tiara. The tiara that Kate wore is the famous Cartier’s Halo Tiara of queen, borrowed for this special occasion. It was actually made in 1936, and Queen’s Father King George VI (remember The King’s Speech) gifted Queen’s Mother three weeks before he took over the throne. Gifted to the Queen on her 18th birthday.

Set with baguette cut old diamonds, and with its floral formations, the tiara looks absolutely gorgeous. The diamond earrings  that Kate wore on this special day were gifted by her parents and were specially designed to complement the tiara.

Just few more hours left and the world shall witness one of the biggest wedding of the decade. Or we could call it the Royal Wedding of 21st Century. The wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton will not only become an important page in history, but an important one in the book of fashion as well.

Kate Hudson Engaged!

It sure is season of weddings and engagements. While the most awaited royal wedding of the year is to happen tomorrow, here is another great news – Our much loved actress Kate Hudson is engaged to Muse frontman Matt Bellamy.

Hudson confirmed the news on the Today Show yesterday after Matt Lauer asked about the giant rock sparkling on her hand.

Ah, the ring, its been reported that the center stone is about 9 carats, emerald cut set in a white metal, probably platinum.

Their plan for the wedding takes a back seat with Kate expecting a baby in few months.

Gucci Loves you Japan

Gucci has created a limited edition of bracelets to benefit Earthquake and Tsunami ravaged Japan get back on its feet. The $100 non – allergic white leather bracelet features white and red wed, a buckle that’s in the shape of fashion house’s trademark horsebit and a medallion that says ‘Gucci Loves You’.

Starting from today these bracelets will be sold at Tokyo’s flagship store of Gucci and soon it will be distributed worldwide in Gucci’s flagship stores in United States, Europe and Asia.

All the proceeds of the sale of these ‘Gucci Loves You’ bracelet will benefit Japanese Red Cross society. A beautiful gesture for a noble cause I would say!

Angelina Jolie launches ‘The Style of Jolie’ Jewelry Collection

If you love to keep up with the latest fashion and are somewhat of a jewelry lover like me, then surely Angelina Jolie’s jewelry must be something that would always leave you awed. She has a very classy taste in jewelry and this can very well be seen by each piece of jewelry that she is seen wearing. The emerald earrings that she wore at the Oscars became an instant rage among jewelry loving women.

Angelina Jolie recently collaborated with her friend and famous jewelry designer Robert Procop to put forth ‘The Style of Jolie’ jewelry collection. The proceeds of the sale would go to her foundation to help the Children of Conflict.

We women really do not need a reason to love our diamonds. Just the fact that these brilliant gemstones are called diamonds make them our best friends. And, we can’t  complain if men think that we are obsessed with it. ‘Coz its the ugly truth .. want to show us your love, show us the diamonds.

The reason I am going on and on about diamonds is that .. Its April! The Month of Diamonds!. And, even though I am not an April born myself, I am very much looking forward to getting myself a pair of small diamond earrings, or may be a pendant – after all, it is the birthstone of this month.

Jennifer Lopez’s TOUS Jewelry Oriental Ad Campaign

The actress, Jennifer Lopez is a style icon in every way, her jewelry, her famous 14-carat blue diamond ring, her love for hoop earrings is something that we all have been awed by. The star recently seen starring in TOUS Asian inspired ads.

This ad campaign of Spanish brand TOUS jewelry has an oriental feel to it. They have shot the ad with props such as chopsticks, umbrella and fans.

It is their Spring/Summer Collection that mostly consists of Indian Rubies and mother of pearl arranged in lotus flower like arrangement.

A rare 15th Century diamond crystal ring found

A very rare 15th Century diamond and gold ring that was found in March 2008 by John Steven in South Leicestershire, England will soon go off for sale at Bonhams in London.

Estimated to sell for about $24,000 to $32000, the ring features rough diamond. The auction house Bonhams bring light to the fact that diamond cutting was very rare 500 years ago. Diamonds are the hardest of the minerals, and thus cutting them requires great precision and special cutting tools, During that time not many craftsmen were known to use diamond cutting technique and tools.

The band of the ring is inscribed by Gothic script "amour mi tien" (love keep me).

Jean Ghika, Director of the Jewellery Department comments, "Bonhams is delighted to offer such a rare surviving 15th century diamond ring. It is a superb example of its type and was lying undiscovered for over five hundred years."

Reese Witherspoon Wedding pics revealed

There has been much talk about Reese Witherspoon wedding with JIm Toth and finally the newly weds have shared their wedding pictures with People’s magazine. Her pink wedding dress was designed by Monique Lhuillier that flaunted a beautiful lace corset, full tulle A-line skirt and silk-satin ribbon.

Not only this, the 35-year actress was recently caught on camera with her wedding ring on. Her wedding ring is a classic platinum band which will beautifully complement her 4-carat diamond engagement ring.

Elizabeth Taylor’s Jewels to be auctioned by Christie’s

According to an American Magazine, Elizabeth Taylor’s magnificent diamond jewelry collection and many other of her antique jewels will soon be auctioned by Christie’s. This news is yet not confirmed by Chritie’s, it is speculated that the collection would be worth at least $150 million.

Taylor who died at the age of 79 due to congestive heart failure on March 23, possessed some of the finest jewels in the world.

Peter Sedghi, President of Luxury Jewels of Bevery Hills said, “To be honest, she knew more than I did [about jewelry]. When you would show her stones, she would tell you the origin, if it’s good quality, bad quality, where it came from. She had a collection like I’ve never seen before.”

Sedghi also said that many of her jewels had emotional value to them. One such was 33.19 carat Krupp Diamond that her fifth husband Richard Burton gifted her.

In 2002, Elizabeth Taylor hosted an exhibition of her much prized jewelry for the public. The exhibition included famed Krupp diamond (in picture above), La Preregina Pearl by Cartier and the huge heart shaped Taj Mahal diamond. The proceeds of the exhibition went to The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation.
